This Air Fryer Roast Chicken Recipe is my go to dinner that is easy and healthy and is ready in an hour (or less). They are juicy and the skin gets Smokey and crispy from the heat of air fryer. All you need is a few simple ingredients and very minimal preparation to get this Flavorful seasoned air fryer whole chicken dinner on the table.

It’s so easy to make the in the air fryer with such less effort. They come out juicy and tender from inside and the skin is the crispier I have ever tried. I just love roasting my whole chicken for a quick and mess free dinner for the whole family.

So you fancy yourself a grill master but don’t have an outdoor setup? Fear not, for the air fryer is here to save the day! we’ll dive into the world of air fryer chicken grilling and how it can revolutionize your cooking game. If you are ready to elevate your meals with the simple method of Air fryer roast chicken then let’s start the process with the ingredients list. With a few simple steps, you can create a juicy from inside crispy from outside delicious Roast chicken dinner that will make everyone happy.

To make this delicious Air fryer Roast chicken, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Chicken – This is a whole uncut chicken recipe but same seasoning can be used for chicken pieces as well.
  • Greek Yogurt – You can use any thick yogurt.
  • Salt – Adjust salt according to your taste.
  • Paprika – Gives smokey color and flavor to the dish.
  • Cayenne – Gives a kick to the grilled meat.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste or Powder – You can either paste or powder. These help eliminate bad odor from poultry.
  • Cumin Powder – Skip if you do not have it to hand.
  • Coriander Powder – This is a flavor enhancing spice.
  • Lemon Juice – This will help the chicken become juicy and tender.
  • Olive Oil – You can use other varieties of oil as well.

Steps to Prepare Air Fryer Grill Chicken:

  1. Clean chicken thoroughly and then make some cuts to help marinade properly.
  2. Pat dry the whole chicken paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Next in a small bowl add all ingredients and make a marinade mixture.
  4. Rub the chicken with marinade very well ensuring the marination reaches everywhere.
  5. Marinade chicken for at least 4 hours; overnight marination in the fridge is even better.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to the recommended temperature for grilling (usually around 200°C or as per your air fryer’s instructions).
  7. Put whole chicken inside and grill for 20 minutes at 180°C.
  8. Carefully turn the chicken and cook for another 20 minutes.
  9. Now carefully drain the juice that went to the bottom of the drawer and pour it over the chicken and cook for another 20 minutes halfway drain and pour again.

In one hours time or even less you get Perfectly Grilled Whole Roast Chicken. It should be perfectly cooked from inside and all juicy with crispy skin that has smokey flavor with that chargrilled appearance.

  2. Pro tip: It’s important to marinade chicken at least 4 hours to help the flavors and seasonings blend in.

Storing Leftover Chicken

Roast chicken makes delicious dinner and it’s everyone’s favorite. However, many times there are leftover that could be not enough for everyone’s dinner the next evening. You can store this cooked chicken in an air tight container in the fridge for up t 2-3 days. You can also freeze them for later use in other recipes.

1. Storage Methods:

Proper storage is crucial to preserve the quality of your garlic and herb butter. Here are two recommended methods:

  1. Refrigeration: Store leftover chicken in the fridge for 2-3 days. Make sure it’s covered properly.
  2. Freezing: If you want to keep your roast chicken for a longer period, consider freezing it. Put them in a zip lock bag. Label and date the packages before storing them in the freezer for up to a month.

2. Creative Ways to Using Leftover Roast Chicken:

Now that you know how to store your leftover chicken, let’s explore some exciting ways to incorporate it into your cooking:

  • Chicken Sandwich: Put chicken, mayonnaise and mustard in a food processor and run it for few seconds for a delicious chicken sandwich spread. Toast a slice of crusty bread and spread the paste on top.
  • Sauté vegetables: Add pulled chicken on vegetables while you sauté them to make it more filling.
  • Saute with onion and herbs for a side dish: Pull chicken pieces and sauté with light olive oil on a pan with onion, garlic and some extra seasoning.
  • Toss with pasta: Cut chicken breast into small chunks and toss it with cooked pasta. Add some freshly grated Parmesan cheese, chopped herbs, and a sprinkle of black pepper for a simple yet incredibly flavorful pasta dish.

  • 1.5 kg Whole Chicken
  • 5 Tbsp Greek Yogurt
  • 5 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 Lemon Juice

If you plan to use frozen chicken, use defrost option in your air fryer to thaw the chicken and then grill it in the air fryer.

How to freeze marinated chicken?

If you plan to make the coated chicken ahead of time you can do that by rubbing the marinade in chicken and then put it in an air tight container or Ziplock bag and store it in the freezer.

How many people can have one whole roast chicken?

It depends on the size of the chicken, portion you are serving to your guests and how many other items will be in the dinner table. One whole roast chicken when portioned to eight pieces is good for 8 people and when carved then more people can enjoy it.

How long can I leave the marinated chicken in the fridge?

Marinated chicken can stay good in the refrigerator for up to 36 hours or more depending on the outside temperature.

Can i use other spices for the marination?

Yes you can. In fact it’s ideal to use different spices to see which ones work better for your family and alter the recipe from time to time.

Can I eat this chicken if I’m lactose intolerant?
