These Cow shaped cookies are very easy to make. You can include kids in the process and I can guarantee they will have a lot of fun. Only you need to say sane throughout the process. And the best part is that you can make them using regular household baking items; the recipe does not require anything fancy. For the shapes, you can just use any cookie cutter that you have handy. Finally use your own imagination and creativity to make them the best.

Ingredients for making cow Cookies:

Butter: Make sure to use unsalted butter for these cookies. It’s crucial for butter to be at room temperature.

Sugar: White granulated sugar is used in the recipe. Brown sugar will make them hard and will not be perfect for the shapes.

Flour: All purpose flour will be perfect for baking these cookies.

Egg: Only one large egg is needed for making these cookies. Make sure egg is at room temperature.

Salt: Just a little salt. If you use salted butter then skip salt in the recipe.

Vanilla Extract: Try to use quality vanilla for better taste.

Cocoa Powder: Cocoa Powder is used to give a different colour to the cookies. You may also use food colour for that.

These Butter cookies are very cute and makes a great one for kids. I love to put a couple on my son’s lunchbox. They make a good after school snacks too. The cookies make a great pair at morning breakfast table and kids can enjoy them with a glass of milk.

How to make Cow shaped butter cookies

Ingredients for making cow cookies:

Unsalted Butter – 220 g

White Granulated Sugar – 160 g

Flour – 350 g

Salt – 1/4 tsp

Egg – 1

Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp

Cocoa Powder – 1 Tbsp

Instructions for making cow shaped butter cookies at home:

First In a bowl, beat butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix. Scrape the sides of the bowl to combine all the ingredients well.

Sift the flour with the salt and add to the mixture. 

Transfer the dough to a working surface and knead with hand to form the dough.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

Remove from the fridge and now take a small portion of the dough and mix it with cocoa powder to make it brown for the cow patches.

Now roll the white dough and put patches of brown dough in spaces.

Use any cookie cutter of your choice and cut shapes.

Transfer into a baking tray and bake in 180 C oven for 10-12 minutes.

Let the cookies cool down and then enjoy.

Top tips for making perfect cow shaped butter cookies:

Always chill the dough before using. After rolling them and cutting the shapes if you feel the need for putting them in the fridge again do so.

Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature when preparing the dough.
