What Is Puff Pastry

Puff pastry, also known as pâte feuilletée, is a light, flaky, and buttery pastry dough. It is made from a laminated dough, which involves layering dough with butter and repeatedly folding and rolling it out. The process creates many thin layers of dough separated by layers of butter. When baked, the water in the butter turns to steam, causing the dough to puff up and separate into delicate, crisp layers. They are bakery staples.
