What are Dutch Baby Pancakes:

Dutch Baby Pancakes – The confusion is in the name. It’s called Dutch baby pancakes and they are also known as German pancakes but these delicious Pancakes are actually American recipe. Now isn’t that a fun fact? These Pancakes are an easy one to make for the whole family. The batter is prepared in a blender jug and then poured over in hot cast iron pan; baked for 15 minutes. You may bake them with some fruits inside or just leave it for the end and put them as toppings.

A perfectly baked German pancake will be fluffy and airy. The edges will be taller than the pan they are baked in with light crust on top. Ingredients for making Dutch Baby Pancakes:

Lemon: Both fresh lemon juice and zest have been used in this recipe. The combination of both makes these pancakes flavourful but not overpowering.

Blueberries: You can go for any fruit of your choice. Here in this recipe I have used Blueberries. Please use fresh Blueberries and not frozen one. Frozen fruit will have more water content which will make the batter go down instead of puffing up.

Flour: Simple all purpose flour is used in the recipe. Gluten free flour also works but the edges does not puff up as all purpose flour.

Egg: Make sure egg are at room temperature.

Vanilla Extract: Try to use quality pure vanilla. It makes great difference in flavour

Milk: Make sure milk is also at room temperature.

Sugar: Sugar is used both in the batter and also for tossing fruit.

Salt: It helps bring out the flavours and balance sourness from Lemon.

Butter: Make sure to use unsalted butter.

Mum Hack:

To beat time in the morning make the batter at night and just pop in the fridge. The batter will become even better. In the morning just do your magic and spend just couple of minutes in the kitchen for a healthy tasty breakfast for the family. No one will know!
